THH-Kona is an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid staff, but our volunteers all work very hard to make our program a safe, enriching environment for our riders.
Nancy Bloomfield, Program Director: Nancy is a registered pediatric physical therapist and it is through her recognition of the incredible physical benefits of therapeutic riding that this program came into being. She founded the program in 2005. Since that time it has grown from 6 riders to over 40 riders. Although not a life-long equestrian, Nancy became a PATH registered therapeutic riding instructor in 2010. She is also a Level 1 hippotherapy practitioner.
Sally Englund, PATH registered therapeutic riding instructor: Sally is a knowledgeable horsewoman and also a retired teacher. She has been volunteering at THH-Kona for over 3 years and became a registered therapeutic riding instructor in 2011.
Leahne’ Toscano: Leahne’ is a social worker with experience working with at-risk and special needs children. She became a registered therapeutic riding instructor in 2011.
Other volunteers have varying backgrounds which include general education and special education teachers, nurses, social workers, and horse professionals, (click here for more information about volunteering)
